Towns County Democratic Party Caucus Elections
Pursuant to §7.04.01 of the Bylaws of the Democratic Party of Georgia and §3.3.1 et seq. the Bylaws of the Towns County Democratic Committee, Towns County Democrats will caucus to elect six Committee members, and elect one delegate to the State Democratic Party Convention on Thursday, June 11, at 5:30 p.m.
All persons who are registered to vote and identify as Democrats in the county are allowed to participate provided as follows:
Candidate for a Committee Post, Requirements
To be nominated/elected to the Committee, the nominee must meet the residency, registration and affirmation requirements in §1.02.01 of the Bylaws of the Democratic Party of Georgia.
Candidate for Delegate to the Convention, and Delegate Elector, Requirements
To be nominated as a delegate to the State Convention, an interested party must qualify by submitting a completed Georgia State Convention Delegate and Delegate Elector’s Affidavit for the nomination to be considered.
Anyone wishing to participate as a Delegate Elector (i.e. to vote for a Delegate) must sign a completed Georgia State Convention Delegate and Delegate Elector’s Affidavit prior to the vote.
Procedure
Participants will caucus by district to fill two posts in each of three districts (see map). Candidates must reside within the district in which the post is located. Votes will be taken in public. Proxy voting is prohibited. Where the number of candidates is equal to the number of posts to be filled, the vote may be taken by acclimation. If at the conclusion of the district caucus a vacancy remains, that fact will be reported to the full caucus and the vacancy may be filled by nomination and vote from among the members of the full caucus.
One delegate will be elected by the Caucus at large. One delegate and alternate will be elected by the members of the Towns County Democratic Committee. All votes will be taken in public and proxy voting is prohibited.

Towns County Democratic Committee District Descriptions
The following descriptions are the boundaries to be used for apportioning Committee seats as provided in the Bylaws of the Towns County Democratic Committee.
Young Harris District 1 is the area WEST: of where Industrial Park Drive joins Crooked Creek Road, east to intersect with Hwy 515; south to intersection with Meadow Brooke Drive; east on Meadow Brooke Drive to intersection of Furman Gribble Road; southeast on Furman Gribble Road to intersect with Hwy 515, west on Hwy 515 to intersect with Twiggs Road; Twiggs Road to its end and cutting across to Mining Gap Road and from Mining Gap Road’s end due south to the county line. Population: 4,182
Macedonia District 2 is the area EAST of a line demarking the eastern most border of the Young Harris District on its west side. On its east side, the Macedonia District area WEST of Bell Creek Road from the North Carolina border to where it intersects with Old Forge Estates/Jay Barret Road at Racoon Hollow and then due west across Lake Chatuge to the western most point of the U.S. 76 bridge, then south along the western shoreline of Lake Chatuge to join Sunnyside Road at Hog Creek Road and then the area west and south of Sunnyside Road to where it joins U.S. 76 south of Hiawassee, then south of U.S. 76 to where it intersects with Swallows Creek Road and west of Swallow Creek Road proceeding at the end of Swallow Creek Road along the western bank of Dismal Creek and then a diagonal line joining the Dismal Creek springhead to a point along the eastern county boundary that is halfway between Deep Gap and Powell Mountain. Hiawassee District 3 is the area to the EAST of the area defined by the eastern border of the Macedonia District. Population: 4,167
